Palm Springs Is Jumping For Joy With New Public Art Project

The newly christened Palm Springs Cultural Center unveiled it’s latest public art project this weekend. The high-spirited photography of Eyoälha Baker was turned into a mural on the wall of the Cultural Center/Camelot Theatre.

The artist has been working on the “Jump For Joy” project for several years and is traveling around the world taking photos of people in joyful mid-air poses. The happiness in the photos is contagious, and the artist hopes to use public art to inspire joy on a mass scale. For the Palm Springs mural, she did a 3-month residency and photographed local residents in settings all around the city.
