Colin's Palm Springs Getaway Vacation Rental Condo

Artist David Cerny’s “Crawling Babies” are coming to downtown Palm Springs

This is sure to get people talking. Artist David Cerny’s “Crawling Babies” are coming to downtown Palm Springs for a temporary exhibit. The artist is known for controversial sculptures, and these should definitely get some attention.

The exhibit is part of the ongoing downtown renovation and drive to get more public art throughout the city.

The Crawling Babies were previously part of an installation on the Zizkov TV Tower in the Czech Republic. They were so well received there that they tried to make them a permanent installation.

Book Direct and Save Some Green!

February 7th is “Book Direct” Day, highlighting the benefits of booking direct with vacation rental owners and skipping the high fees that are being charged by listing sites like VRBO, HomeAway, and Airbnb.

Those sites now add almost 10% to the total cost of your stay at Colin’s Palm Springs Getaway just for booking through them. You don’t get anything more – you just pay more. And those sites also block much of the communication between you and the home owner prior to booking.

So, book direct when possible, and use sites like VacationSoup.com that make it easy to find your perfect vacation rental without the extra expense.

Have You Ever Had A Sound Bath Inside A UFO?

It’s not exactly a UFO, but the Integratron, located in the high desert outside of Palm Springs was built by UFO-logist George van Tassel based on instructions he got from some visitors from Venus.

Perhaps a silly conception, but the building itself is very cool and available for you to go inside and enjoy a “sound bath” meditation where you lay on a mat and get serenaded by the ethereal sound of crystal bowls.

If you like things a little offbeat, this is something for you. The website for Colin’s Palm Springs Getaway has been updated with many activities, from mainstream to madcap. Something for everyone!

Palm Springs Downtown Renewal Continues

Downtown Palm Springs, once the site of the long-defunct Fashion Plaza, is now coming to life with a new hotel, and several new shops.

The six story Rowan hotel is welcoming the public to it’s rooftop deck every day after 5pm to take in the views. They are quite stunning. You can also have dinner at the 4 Saints restaurant or enjoy a cocktail poolside.

Also open is the new Starbucks Reserva, a larger version of the coffee shop giant’s location featuring gourmet coffee blends and preparations alongside the usual offerings.
